A Stained Glass Artist in the Black Hills of South Dakota

Biographical Information

Manifesting Dreams

Christie Jensen is a talented artist with over 18 years glass experience and 27 years of woodworking experience.  Raised by artistic/business minded parents in New York and Northern New Jersey, art has been not only a love, but a life.

Skilled in many artistic mediums, they all become apparent in the finished creations.

A wood and metal class in high school started a journey the art teachers couldn’t have imagined.. Taking the visions from the canvas to 3D creations was just what was needed.  Woodworking, antique restoration and artistic finishing and painting took the place of a hectic corporate life.  Custom exhibit work was the next adventure, which included lobby exhibits for large companies like IBM, MCI and the Chaco Canyon Visitors Center in New Mexico for the National Park Service.  Custom cabinetry, furniture design and creation, and exotic custom finishing lead right back to the love of working with color and light.  And what a better way to enhance the expression of a lifetime of art than with stained glass.

Growing up in the mountains of New Jersey, although not far from her birthplace of New York City, the Black Hills of South Dakota seem to tap into the heart of this artist, acting like a magnetic home where inspiration and creations can continue to flourish and grow.

This journey will continue to expand while donating etched glassware, gift items, windows, time and labor to the Spirit of the Hills - Wildlife Sanctuary to help with the care of the many rescued animals who reside there.  Christie is also a member/treasurer of the Black Hills chapter of the South Dakota Woodworkers Guild at the Black Hills School of Woodworking and has been donating time and experience with other guild members to design and build projects, including flag cases for the families of fallen veterans.  See and hear the full story on SD Public Radio.
